As soon as your medication is ready for pick up, our staff will let you know. In case you don’t come to pick them up within two days, we would send a reminder, making sure that you have enough medicine on hand and that you are doing all right…because we care!

There are few ways to transfer your prescriptions to us. The fastest option is for you to send electronic prescriptions (e-scribe) right to our pharmacy. You can also visit or give us a call to request an Rx transfer. We would need the names of all medications you would like to transfer, dosage, and Rx numbers. We would also need to have the contact info of your current pharmacy. Our pharmacy staff would contact them and do the rest.

When contacting us regarding the transfer, please have the following information available. Specifically, you will need to tell the pharmacist:

• Your full name and date of birth
• Your address and phone number
• All known allergies (food and medicines)
• The names of all the prescriptions you’re transferring
• The strength and dosage of your medications
• Rx number for each medication (the 7-digit number on the top left of the label)
• Phone number and address for your current pharmacy
• Contact information for your prescribing physician

Be sure to safely and appropriately discard all remaining medication as soon as possible. Simply bring in your unneeded or expired medication to our pharmacy and our staff will professionally dispose those for you at no cost.

How to Dispose of Medicines at Home

When a take back option is not easily available, there are two ways to dispose of medicines at home, depending on the drug.

According to the FDA guidelines:

Flushing medicines: Because some medicines could be especially harmful to others, they have specific directions to immediately flush them down the sink or toilet when they are no longer needed, and a take-back option is not readily available.

How will you know? Check the label or the patient information leaflet with your medicine. Or consult the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s list of medicines recommended for disposal by flushing when a take back option is not readily available. Remember, don’t flush your medicine unless it is on the flush list.

Disposing medicines in household trash: If a take back program is not available, almost all medicines, except those on the FDA flush list (see below),  can be thrown into your household trash. These include prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs in pills, liquids, drops, patches, and creams.

Follow these steps:

1. Remove the drugs from their original containers and mix them with something undesirable, such as used coffee grounds, dirt, or cat litter. This makes the medicine less appealing to children and pets and unrecognizable to someone who might intentionally go through the trash looking for drugs.
2. Put the mixture in something you can close (a re-sealable zipper storage bag, empty can, or other container) to prevent the drug from leaking or spilling out.
3. Throw the container in the garbage.
4. Scratch out all your personal information on the empty medicine packaging to protect your identity and privacy. Throw the packaging away.

When we get vaccinated, we aren’t just protecting ourselves, but also those around us. Some people, like those who are seriously ill, are advised not to get certain vaccines – so they depend on the rest of us to get vaccinated and help reduce the spread of disease. 

Nearly everyone can get vaccinated. However, because of some medical conditions, some people should not get certain vaccines, or should wait before getting them. These conditions can include:

• Chronic illnesses or treatments (like chemotherapy) that affect the immune system;
• Severe and life-threatening allergies to vaccine ingredients, which are very rare;
• If you have severe illness and a high fever on the day of vaccination.

These factors often vary for each vaccine. If you’re not sure if you or your child should get a particular vaccine, talk to your health worker. They can help you make an informed choice about vaccination for you or your child.
